Title: The Maltese Falcon
Author: Marshall Hammett
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Source: Bookmooch
Rating: 2 out of 5
Yet another classic that I’m horribly disappointed in. I ended up skimming the last half of the book simply because I didn’t like it enough to go on reading at my normal speed.
The story would have been ok, I don’t mind a book being predictable if it draws me in enough. The problem is the character of Sam Spade himself. I dislike his personality to the point it distracts me from the story, he feels slick, dirty, and down right nasty.
I don’t really regret reading it, but I think I’ll be far more careful when selecting a private eye novel to read again.
